This was the situation faced by one teacher member of TPA, who found themselves on the receiving end of verbal abuse from a student at their school. They had previously alerted their employer that they did not have the necessary training to handle students with complex mental health problems.
Unfortunately, their concerns were ignored, and the situation continued to escalate.
The verbal abuse caused significant stress to the teacher, affecting their health and well-being. They felt helpless and alone, unsure of what to do next.

We assisted them in filing a work cover application, allowing them to take the necessary time off to recuperate at home.
Additionally, we provided advice on the fact-finding stage and consulted with them on a return-to-work plan that ensured the teacher's safe and timely return to the classroom.
