One teacher's struggle with allergies and how TPAA helped her make a difference.

As a teacher, you dedicate your life to educating and nurturing your students. But what happens when your own health is compromised by the very environment you work in?

This is the reality for one member who has been struggling with extreme allergic reactions to aerosols being used by her students in the classroom. Despite ongoing efforts by administration to address the issue, the problem persisted, leading to the need for the member to take time off work.

Feeling helpless and unsupported, the member had offered several suggestions to the administration on how to tackle the issue, but none were taken into consideration. This left her feeling frustrated and alone in her struggle. It was at this point that she reached out to TPAA for help. With the support of a dedicated case manager, she was able to communicate her concerns to her employer, finally feeling like her voice was being heard.

Thanks to the advocacy of the TPAA case manager, a meeting was arranged between the school administration and our member, leading to a positive outcome. During the meeting, the school agreed to implement new strategies to address the issue, working to create a safer and healthier work environment.
In addition, we provided assistance to our member with a WorkCover claim, to ensure that her health concerns were taken seriously and resolved effectively.

As teachers, we know how important it is to create a safe and conducive learning environment for our students. But it is equally important to ensure our own safety and well-being, so we can continue to do our job effectively. We deserve to work in an environment that is free from hazards and risks, and we should not have to compromise our health for the sake of our job.

How is the TPAV so effective in defending members during workplace issues and disputes? Our experienced and professional case managers use our unique REDTM case resolution system.

Why is the TPAV different? We believe that real change in education STARTS with empowering frontline teachers, not bureaucrats.
